Time

I just received an email from a friend of mine - actually a very special ex-boyfriend I haven't seen for quite some time.

What he sent me was an invitation to look at the pictures he’d put in some sort of online photo gallery. The whole thing was just called “Time” and what was there, was a random collection of pics he'd taken. Of some people putting up a tent, some drunken guy sleeping on a bar, his girlfriend in the hippie VW van, a cat beside a flower pot and so on. Some very funny snapshots of his life. Only the last photo hit me. It’s one of his dog with the signature “RIP”.

Why did it kick in so much? It’s the dog he already had, when we were together. The dog that was always with him. Blanca - the most beautiful, well trained, handsome and caring dog. She was just great. And even though I know that dogs have a much more limited life time than we do, and the day we split up lies more than six years ago, I stared at the picture in disbelief.

There are things in life we just think are evanescence-resistant. I thought I’d always be able to visit and there would be the two of them (his girlfriend is a good friend of mine, there’s no jealousy involved) and the dog.

Realizing the loss of that dog, which was so close and went so far made me realize in one split second the loss of so many things.

I found that looking back and finding things are moving away from you, you have to concentrate extremely hard to stick to the things that move closer !!!
