Since just recently my girlfriend forces me to perform some weird yoga sun salutation between my squatting-in-front-of-the-computer-units what seems like a rather hopeless attempt to reverse evolution. I’m a computer person, my spine will have to look different compared to those of high level sportsmen or fulltime builders because I definitely need different muscles than them! So what’s the point in stressing the ones I will never need again?
To be honest, this is just what I make up to escape the yoga sessions. But I think what really is the truth is that I actually do go in for sports. I manage to cycle uphill to the train station in no time to catch a train and well I hardly gasp for breath usually, except when I had to pedal too fast or it’s a hot day or well you know… And I also run, if I got out of the house a little too late. I run through half the town without ending up arriving with a dark-red tomato-head. I mean, even professionals blush a little after a sprint, don’t they? I don’t own a car, so I do have to walk and cycle a lot. That’s city-people-athletics. I’m as fit as my dusty nike air trainers.
And, well, why I thought I’d start jogging again this morning I don’t really know. But the reason for me to walk half the track wasn’t missing capability at all, it was just this stitch that I got after the first few meters and that kept on pricking until I got back. Wrong breathing, that’s all. Happens even to Irina Mikitenko, sometimes. And the charley horse now … probably means I didn’t do my stretching afterwards thoroughly enough. I’ll make up for that tomorrow ... or Monday.
Sporting practice is completely overrated if you ask me, but I guess I better make sure I’ll keep all my options … perhaps it will turn out to be quite advantageous maintaining the right condition for an office job as well as for the physically wearisome occupation of a farmer or the like.
